Common questions

• Does Medicare Advantage replace my Original Medicare coverage?

  This plan combines your Original Medicare coverage with enhanced benefits that are included in the NCSRCC Medicare Advantage plan. You only have to show your UnitedHealthcare member ID card when visiting your doctor.

• Do I have to pay a separate Medicare premium?

  You do have to pay a separate premium for Medicare Part B, which is then deducted from your monthly federal benefit. Your premium amount will depend on your income.

• What about coverage for my spouse?

  When you and your spouse are both 65, you will both be eligible for the NCSRCC Medicare Advantage plan. If your spouse turns 65 before you, they will remain on your existing plan until you are eligible.

• Can I have more than one plan at a time?

  You may only be enrolled in one Medicare Advantage plan and one Medicare Part D prescription drug plan at a time.

  • The plan you enroll in last is the plan that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) considers to be your final decision.
  • So if you enroll in another Medicare Advantage plan or a stand-alone Medicare Part D prescription drug plan after your enrollment in this group-sponsored plan, you will be disenrolled from your group plan.
  • If that happens, any eligible family members may also be disenrolled from the group-sponsored plan, which means that you and your family may not have hospital/medical or drug coverage through your former employer or plan sponsor.
  • Remember: If you drop or are disenrolled from your group-sponsored retiree coverage, you may not be able to re-enroll. Limitations and restrictions vary by former employer or plan sponsor.
